If you’re looking for wedding inspiration with a twist of gothic elegance and Disney villain flair, then Kayleigh and Peter’s day is an absolute dream. Their October wedding at The Racquet Club Hotel in Liverpool was an intimate celebration filled with love, laughter, and a bold, unapologetic style that perfectly reflected them as a couple. From a Tenacious D first dance to hand-thrifted centerpieces, their wedding was as unique as it was heartfelt. As you can see from the photos by the amazing Vicky Dubois Photography, their wedding was one to remember!
The Trial: A Meeting of Creative Minds!
When I met Kayleigh at her trial, I knew she was my kind of bride! I loved her black bejewelled crown and vibrant red hair. I was excited that she was open to trying a ponytail style with a glam twist, it was a great choice for her caped dress! We also custom blended a purple lipstick that was the perfect pop of colour that complimented her sparkling eye makeup. I was as enthusiastic as Kayleigh about her wedding!
Getting Ready: A Morning Full of Laughter
Kayleigh’s morning began with her bridal party at The Racquet Club, setting the tone with laughter so loud the whole venue knew she had arrived! The energy was infectious, and it created the perfect calm-before-the-storm atmosphere. We had such a laugh with Kayleigh and her mum and sister! Kayleigh’s hair and makeup emphasized her beauty with a gothic-inspired elegance, striking a perfect balance between bold and timeless. It was such a pleasure to be part of this lively morning and see Kayleigh’s excitement shine through.
The Venue: A Perfect Match
The couple fell in love with The Racquet Club’s traditional, gentleman’s club decor, which provided a beautiful backdrop to their celebration. Unlike blank canvas venues, the space had so much personality and needed minimal dressing, allowing Kayleigh and Peter’s unique touches to shine. The intimate guest list of 36 meant the day was filled with meaningful moments shared with every loved one in the room.
Ceremony Highlights: Personal and Poignant
Kayleigh and Peter’s ceremony was made truly special with their decision to write their own vows. The string quartet playing alternative songs added a personal yet traditional soundscape to the moment. Their love and thoughtfulness were on full display, creating a deeply emotional and memorable experience for all. There was certainly a lot of love in the room!
Gothic Elegance Meets Disney Villains
Why be a princess when you can be a queen? Kayleigh and Peter embodied this with their Disney villain-themed centerpieces, which they lovingly thrifted and crafted together. From antique store finds to creative DIY touches, their decor was a perfect reflection of their shared interests and style. Every detail was bold, personal, and brimming with character.
A First Dance to Remember
While most couples opt for a classic first dance song, Kayleigh and Peter stole the show with their choice: “F*ck Her Gently” by Tenacious D. The reaction from their guests? Unforgettable. Even friends of friends still rave about the moment. The bold choice perfectly encapsulated their sense of humor and willingness to throw tradition to the wind in favor of being true to themselves. It’s touches like this that make weddings so special in my opinion!
Love, Laughter, and a Calm Celebration
The intimate nature of the wedding allowed Kayleigh and Peter to connect with each guest, spreading the joy and love they felt throughout the day. “If I could bottle up the feeling, I would,” Kayleigh shared. Peter may have started the day with some nervousness, but by the time the speeches and celebrations were in full swing, he was completely at ease.
Hair, Makeup, and Finding the Right Fit
Kayleigh chose Glamorama Makeup after a phone chat where she shared her vision of a non-traditional, gothic-inspired look. “You didn’t bat an eyelid and showed so much excitement—it instantly made me feel at ease,” she said. “I felt like I had a friend I could trust rather than just an artist providing a service.” Creating a look that made Kayleigh feel like the queen she is was such a joy. Hearing her describe her makeup as “perfection” is the highest compliment!
I loved how you just embrace your clients and you are so supportive and happy I didn’t once second guess my choice! The makeup was just perfection I didn’t feel like it was wearing me and the hair was the same also! Also with feeling so comfortable it felt like more of a friend I could trust than just an artist providing a service and I will be forever grateful for that.
Advice from Kayleigh and Peter
Their advice to couples planning their weddings? “Go with what you want, not what you think you should have. If it doesn’t fit into the traditional boxes, find the right suppliers—they’ll be your biggest cheerleaders.”
Kayleigh and Peter’s wedding at The Racquet Club in Liverpool was more than just a celebration; it was a bold, heartfelt statement of who they are as a couple. From gothic elegance to Disney villain centerpieces, every element was tailored to reflect their style and love story.
