Poppy and Wojtek’s wedding was one of my favourite celebrations this year—a vibrant, heartfelt day that perfectly embodied everything they love about Liverpool, surrounded by their closest friends and family. With the ceremony at the historic St George’s Hall and a reception at the quirky, laid-back LEAF Bold Street, it was a wedding filled with personal touches, love, and lots of dancing! What made this day even more special was the inclusion of their girlfriend Rosh as one of the bridespeople, creating a beautiful celebration of their polyamorous love and LGBTQ+ inclusivity.
Getting Ready: A Fun and Calm Start
The morning began in Poppy and Wojtek’s flat, a cozy, laughter-filled space where we transformed the wedding party into their radiant, natural-glam selves. Poppy’s request was simple—she wanted a natural makeup look that would make her feel like the best version of herself. She admitted she’s not usually one for heavy makeup, so we focused on a fresh, glowing complexion with soft, romantic hair styling. The energy was electric—equal parts excitement and calm, with the best tunes playing in the background.
What I really loved was the warm happy atmosphere, and the fact that the bridespeople were creating their bouquets whilst getting ready! Poppy had bought big bunched of beautiful blooms from Tesco, and everyone created their own posies, and Poppy even made her own bouquet. It was fun, creative, and added a very personal touch.
The bridesmaids all wore different dresses in various shades of green. They all came together perfectly! Poppy’s gorgeous gown was from Liverpool Bridal Boutique, and I think we can all agree she looks absolutely stunning in it!
A Ceremony at Liverpool’s Iconic St George’s Hall
St George’s Hall was the perfect choice for Poppy and Wojtek’s ceremony. The stunning architecture added a touch of grandeur to their laid-back, love-filled celebration. Poppy walked down the aisle to Instant Crush by Daft Punk, a song that holds special meaning for the couple. The ceremony was a touching mix of English and Polish, with heartfelt readings from their dads, making it a truly emotional moment for everyone. Their dads read the following reading, Poppy’s in English, Wojtek’s in Polish, which was very special to Poppy:
Excerpt from the Chaos of Stars – Kiersten White
I didn’t fall in love with you.
I walked into love with you,
with my eyes wide open,
choosing to take every step along the way.
I do believe in fate and destiny,
but I also believe we are only fated to do
the things that we’d choose anyway.
And I’d choose you;
in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds,
in any version of reality,
I’d find you
and I’d choose you
How freaking beautiful is that please????
Parading Through the City to LEAF Bold Street
After the “I dos,” the newlyweds and their guests took a walk to LEAF on Bold Street. The walk between venues, under sunny skies, was a highlight in itself—a mini parade of love and celebration through the streets of Liverpool! The couple wanted a space that felt intimate, warm, and filled with character—LEAF delivered on all fronts.
The Reception: Dancing, Live Music, and Unique Touches
The reception was pure joy from start to finish. The live band, Ukebox, was a standout, getting everyone on their feet with their lively performance. One of the most memorable moments was when their talented friend Harry spontaneously joined the band with his trumpet, much to everyone’s delight! The dance floor was packed, with Poppy and Wojtek’s friends Laurian and Codrin leading the way as incredible dancers who brought everyone together.
Adding a sweet, inclusive touch, Poppy’s friend Sophie made a vegan wedding cake to ensure everyone, including their girlfriend Rosh, could enjoy a slice. They also had had a Polish ‘Soplica’ bar – it’s a kind of sweet flavoured vodka that Wojtek was keen for everyone to try! It’s these thoughtful details that truly made their celebration feel personal and full of love.
A Surprise Night Out
As the reception wrapped up, Poppy, Wojtek, Rosh, and about 15 of their friends decided to keep the party going at Superstar Boudoir, an iconic LGBTQ+ bar in Liverpool. The Drag DJ surprised them with a shout-out, congratulating the newlyweds. It was a spontaneous, joyous end to a day that was all about love, inclusivity, and community.
Choosing Glamorama Makeup for the Big Day
Poppy shared that she chose to book with me after meeting at a wedding fair, where she instantly felt at ease. She loved the fresh, understated styles I offered and appreciated not feeling pressured to go beyond her comfort zone with makeup. She also liked the fact that I only use vegan and cruelty-free products, because their girlfriend Rosh is vegan.
“The day was amazing – you were both so professional and lovely, put everyone right at ease and didn’t bat an eyelid at the slightly manic energy in the flat. My Mum came over to have her hair-make-up done too and is still talking about what a brilliant start to the day you gave us all.”, It was such a joy to be part of their morning, setting the stage for a day filled with happiness.
Advice from Poppy and Wojtek
Their advice to other couples? “Try and enjoy it, share the work between you, don’t get too bogged down in details, at the end of the day it’s the people you share the day with that are really going to make it. You can’t control everything so just try and lean into it.”
A Day to Remember
Poppy and Wojtek’s wedding was a celebration of love in all its forms. From the iconic ceremony at St George’s Hall to the unforgettable reception at LEAF Bold Street, it was a day that felt uniquely theirs. It was a celebration of community, inclusivity, and joy, embodying everything they love about Liverpool and each other. This wedding was definitely a VIBE! That vibe being so positive, warm, and loving.
